How Can You Become a Dalewood Client?

Although we receive referrals from physicians and other health professionals, you do not need a referral to become a Dalewood client.

We have locations all over Canada. The first step is to see if there is a clinic close to where you reside. If there is, simply call or email the Clinic Director in that location and request an appointment.

If you do not reside near any of our clinic locations, you can still take part in our program. Simply request assistance using the form at the bottom of this page and we will be in touch with you shortly to answer questions regarding program details and cost.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No, there is no need for a physician's referral.

What type of diet Program is used at Dalewood Clinic?

We start off by letting you know that we don't use a one-size fits all diet.

Every client's diet will be individualized based on their lifestyles, resting metabolic rates, activity levels, co-existing medical conditions and their dietary likes and dislikes.

With rare exceptions we do not provide low-calorie diets unless there is a pressing medical need for rapid weight loss.

How much weight can I expect to lose?

Every patient is different. At Dalewood, we strive for weight-losses of up to 2 pounds per week and our first goal with our patients is to have them lose 10% of their body weight.

A 10% weight-loss has been shown to have significant health benefits. Once the first 10% is lost, we reset that goal and continue until you reach a weight that you are happy with.

Will I be hungry?

No. We realize that if you're hungry, there is no way that you will be able to maintain your weight once you have completed our program. If you are hungry while on our program, our dietitian will make adjustments to your diet to ensure that you avoid being hungry.

Will my private insurance cover any of the costs?

For many people the answer is yes.

You will need to check with your insurance company to determine whether or not you are covered for dietitian visits and/or personal trainers. If so we will certainly be able to provide you with an invoice for those parts of our program covered under your plan.

Typically patients with coverage for dietitians will be able to claim back $500 of the program's cost from their insurers.

What if I live really far from a Dalewood Clinic?

Dalewood can support candidates that do not live within geographical proximity of a clinic location because our Health Care Professionals are available using telephone, Skype and the communication tools in the Health Resource Center.

Treatment is utilized in conjunction with local physicians for scheduled weight-ins, and UPS or Canada Post will pick up and deliver your Program Materials directly to your home, or a designated Postal Station where applicable.

About Dalewood's Relationship with the Weight Loss Grants Organization (WLGO):

Dalewood is a premium national sponsor of the Weight Loss Grants Organization (WLGO). We take part in this program to incentivize our clients to lose their weight and to receive some of their money back once they reach their goal weight.

However, you do not need to apply for WLGO's grant in order to join our program as some may feel that it may create more stress for them to be a part of both the WLGO and Dalewood. If you need payment or financing options, you can refer to the iFinance logo at the bottom of this page.

Is Dalewood and the Weight Loss Grants Organization the Same Business?

No. Dalewood and WLGO are not the same business, nor are we co-owned.

Do Dalewood Clients receive more Grants that other Companies?

Dalewood is WLGO's only national sponsor, which also means we are the largest sponsor, so of course Dalewood's clients will receive a disproportionate number of grants.

Is there a Bias in Favour of Dalewood from WLGO?

Because WLGO receives monetary compensation from us, it should be assumed to have some financial benefit for them and as such, a bias for Dalewood should be assumed simply because of the relationship between us and WLGO.

My Physician is referring me to Dalewood. Can I still apply for WLGO's Grant?

Yes, provided the referral is with respect to losing weight, however you should confirm your eligibility of the Grant from WLGO.

Can I apply for the WLGO Grant to cover all of Dalewood's Services?

No, only services that are incidental to weight loss and our weight loss program can qualify for the Grant offered by WLGO.
